2.0. OPENING PRAYER:
The meeting started at 1:43 PM with an opening prayer by Pharm. Ekujumi Kolawole

3.0: PHARMACY ANTHEM

The Pharmacy Anthem was led by the Chairman Pharm. Babalola Osabiya Taiwo FPSN

4.0: WELCOME REMARKS
 The Chairman apologized for the shift in date of the meeting which might have led to poor attendance. He promised a short meeting. He welcomed members of the Board of Fellows, Former Presidents, Technical groups chairmen and all ALPS members present for their dedication.

He further said there will be presentations during the meeting. He also said that four of our colleagues are strong and we should keep them in prayers.

He rounded up by highlighting the recent promotions in the profession vis The appointment of the new Executive Secretary for ODHCMA and the appointment of a new Director of Pharmaceutical Services for The State Ministry of Health.

5.0READING AND ADOPTION OF THE AGENDA

The agenda was read by all and the motion for adoption was moved by Pharm. Ogunjemiyo Olabode FPSN and Seconded by Pharm. Martha Ajayi

7.0 LECTURE ON HERBAL MEDICINE RESEARCH BY PROFESSOR ADEGEYE

Professor Adegeye,a known figure in the use and development  of herbal medicines, enlightened the gathering on his journey into this field of research. he spoke on several products he has developed and their uses. Several of his products were showcased in the process followed by a question and answer session.

8.0 LECTURE ON THEEVOLUTION OF PHARMACY EDUCATION BY PHARM OGUNJEMIYO OLABODE FPSN

Pharm Ogunjemiyo Olabode outlined the history of Pharmacy practice and the evolution into what it is as a profession today. Key points include

  • Formation of Association of Dispensers and its metamorphosis to PSN in 1956
  • Hospital pharmacists formed The Nigeria union of Pharmacists (NUP) after independence
  • The NUP was dissolved in 1977
  • The Pharmacists Board of Nigeria was formed and lead for the first time by a Chief Pharmacist in1964
    There was No Pharmacy division under the Ministry of Health until much later
  • NOTABLE PIONEERS OF PHARMACY PROFESSION
    – Mr. Richard Zaccheus Bailey (Popularly known as ‘The Doctor’ Obtained his license to practice from The Governor General)
    – Thomas Ekundayo Philips 1864- 1964 operated around Fagbe market 1947-1951, He was the First president of the PSN.
    – Prof. Abuwa – First Professor of Clinical Pharmacy in West Africa.

    0 BUS PROJECT
    Olori Akande appealed passionately to everybody to pay the #50,000.The payment was extended till next year. Those who paid a part this year are to complete it next year.

    10.0 ESTATE COMMITTEE REPORT
    The Presentation was made by Pharm. Samuel and the resolution were adopted.

    11.0 GOOD PHARMACY PRACTICE COMMITTEE REPORT
    The report was read by Pharm. (Dr) Samuel Adekola and the resolutions submitted to the house as a white paper.

    12.0 AOB.
    The chairman said other reports will be taken at the January meeting while other necessary reports will be made available on the whatsapp group by the secretary

    13.0 MOTION FOR ADJOURNMENT
    The Motion for adjournment was moved by Pharm. Dr. Samuel Adekola FPSN and Seconded by Pharm. Adetunji Solomon.

    14.0 CLOSING PRAYER
    The grace was said in Unison and the meeting closed at 5:02pm.
